Come Horseracing Tour

Nothing gets Hong Kong buzzing quite like the thrill of horseracing. It is the territory's favourite sport and, outside the local lottery, the only legal form of gambling. Meetings regularly attract crowds of over 40,000 at each of Hong Kong's two racecourses, where the atmosphere is frenetic, the betting frantic and the rewards potentially huge. The betting turnover for the 1997/98 season was more than HK$91 billion

Your Day at the Races ....
Both tracks, at Happy Valley on Hong Kong Island and Sha Tin in the New Territories, have the latest Pay/Sell equipment. Facing the stands are giant colour-display screens, so you never lose track of the horses. Picking your favourite could not be easier - bets are placed at the Jockey Club's sophisticated and fully computerized on-course betting terminals. There are 124 off-course betting centres throughout the territory, all helping to channel the bets into the Jockey Club's network.

Note: You need to be 18 years or older and in Hong Kong for less than 21 days. Race meetings are held on most Wednesday evenings and weekends throughout the September-to-June season. This tour recommences in September. Watch this space for further information.
